Why Don’t Prospects Like Me? I Can’t Make a Sale!

Apr 01 2015, by PEOPLE in Sales

Sales is a tough job, but somebody has to do it! Sales reps can be aggressive and forceful, and quite frankly, prospects do not like that.

Besides being unpleasant there are several other behaviors that sales reps need to omit from their sales routine or they will be quick to turn prospects away.

Active Listening
Hearing is one thing, but active listening is another. Many sales reps fail to listen to what their prospects are saying. They just want to make that sale, this is not a good way to get prospects to like you. You need to stop talking and start listening.

Selling Honesty
Generally speaking, sales reps like to use the word “honest”, sales reps need to stay away from this phrase. There are other ways to build trust and likeability with prospects.

This is Not a Charity
Yes, giveaways are great, but you are trying to make a sale, where’s the profit in additional free perks? You are not a pushover you are a sales rep.

Your Image
Your social media platform should consist of a professional photo, posting bathroom selfies is not a good way to build clientele nor set a good “image” for your company. It’s hard to trust someone whom appears sketchy and distasteful.

Likeability has a dramatic effect on your sales. How you talk and present yourself to prospects can go a long way in building trust.

What behaviors do you possess that can turn prospects away? How do you tend to work on them to increase sales?
